The night kicked off at York Hall Boxing club in Bethnal Green. A highly anticipated fight with many loyal supporters travelling from all parts of London to witness Chris’s first professional bout.
Ted Bami, who has helped Chris get into great shape told Proptar, “he has been training really hard, he has been waiting for this fight for a while and he is ready”.
Proptar caught up with the laid back south-Londoner before the fight regarding his first bout; “In terms of fighting, the heart and the will and determination that will always be a part of me. I have the experience of fighting top fighters, but the pro game is much different to the amateur game. I have been concentrating on leaving the amateur style behind me and building for the pro game.”
Chris “2 Slick” Kongo from Bermondsey, the former GB amateur star and welterweight fighter displayed a standout performance on the night, in which he knocked out his opponent, Jason Nesbitt, to claim his first professional win.
The fight ended in 60 seconds after “2 Slick” gave his opponent a series of combination punches and served a vicious right hook to end the onslaught.
Whole 9 Management, who are responsible for the Chris “2Slick” Kongo, did a fantastic job promoting the event with Chris featuring on many local radio stations including Reprezent and Radar radio.
The atmosphere was great, as he celebrated his victory in style. Once he left the ring he was mobbed by supporters, friends and family. It was a great moment of joy as he made community proud. One presenter from Matchroom Boxing asked the south-London fighter how he was feeling, “I’m feeling great! God is good and I’m happy everyone came out to support, we are looking forward to the next fight”.
